If these wheels could talk

For all of you that are coming over from Mama Wants This...here ya go.  I guess this shows how much of a newbie I am!

This morning we played outside with our favorite neighbor boy, then sadly, he had places to go and other people to see.  So my kids got bored quickly in a yard with a play house, a large little tykes playslide, basketball hoop, soccer goal, endless amounts of chalk, balls and numerous other outdoor activities. So off to the local park we went.  Matthew decided to take his scooter, and Maddie decided on the blue bike.  The cutest little blue bike you ever saw.  So off we went...

As we walked to the park I thought about this bike.  I remember when I first got it.  June of 2008.  I remember which garage sale too...mainly because I rarely go to garage sales (that's another post) but for some reason, I decided to stop at this one.  Maybe because they actually had parking by the house.  Who knows...but I saw this...
a beautiful vintage trike with a back seat, a blue basket, and an awesome rocket ship seat!

I had to contain my giddiness.  It was $10.  I was willing to pay $10. but I asked if they would take $7., because that's all I had in my pocket.  They did.  It was fabulous.  Put it in my car and drove away.  It was a little rough around the edges, needed some WD40, and some new tires.  Some spray paint wouldn't hurt either...I had plans for this bike.

But all it got after 4 years, is WD40, because in truth..thats all it needed.
The first months of ownership Matthew used it to haul Maddie around

He quickly learned how to haul cargo in it

Over the years we learned to share it with our friends

And finally, after all these years, Maddie gets to haul Matthew around!

I can't wait until my son can ride a bike. I still can't believe he's already almost 11 weeks. Next thing I know he'll be graduating!
